Settled in the 1840s and officially established in 1956, Southlake is home to over 30,000 residents. It grew quickly after the opening of the DFW International Airport in the 1970s. Several industrial businesses are headquartered there, including concrete works and gasoline storage and distribution. It is also the site of the megachurch Gateway Church, which has approximately 16,000 attendees per week.

Southlake is one of the most affluent neighborhoods in the country based on the average estimated median household income. The houses are spacious and elegant, often having four bedrooms and four bathrooms. Several famous sports figures live in Southlake, such as Terry Bradshaw and Marcus Spears.

With menu standouts like capricciosa pizza, zucchini spadellati, rigatoni with sliced chicken, and grilled salmon with Calabria peppers, you are sure not to leave hungry.  Del Frisco’s Grille is another elegant dining choice, featuring an upbeat atmosphere and a menu of outstanding American dishes and creative cocktails.

Truluck’s Ocean’s Finest Seafood and Crab is a go-to spot renowned for its exceptional menu of Fresh Florida stone crab claws, lobster bisque, jalapeno salmon, Idaho rainbow trout, and more. Kirby’s Steakhouse has flavor, service, and ambiance unlike any other. With an atmosphere of upscale comfort, the restaurant serves steak, seafood, and a sommelier-crafted drink menu. The intimate experience has been delighting guests since it opened in 1954.

Things to Do

Marshall Creek Ranch boasts some of the most breathtaking equestrian trials in Texas. Riders may see many animals, including whitetail deer, coyotes, and great blue herons, as they traverse more than 39 miles of trails. The ranch has something wonderful for all skill levels.

The Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve covers 758 acres and provides over 20 miles of hiking trails. Rich in biodiversity and the history of the environment, the center is the perfect place for guests to enjoy nature and see wildlife.

One of the best-kept secrets in the area, the Botanical Gardens at Heritage Park in nearby Grapevine showcases beautiful ponds, plants, flowers, streams, and trails. It is an ideal area to relax, take a walk, and enjoy nature. 

Grapevine’s Palace Arts Center, accepted by the National Register of Historic Places, is a restored theater from the 1940s. It puts on classic movies, performances, concerts, and visual arts. For those in need of a venue, it is also a unique place for parties, banquets, receptions, and meetings.

Southlake schools belong to the Carrol Independent School District, which is one of the best districts in Texas. The city is especially known for the high school’s football team, which has been the state champion numerous times.
